DIY:Dry Shampoo..Blondes?Brunettes? Are you ready?

You don't have to wash your hair every day, and the truth of the matter is that your daily shampoo can actually do more harm than good , so PUT THAT SHAMPOO BOTTLE DOWN! The basic idea of a dry shampoo (or wet-dry shampoo) is to put an oil absorbing substance (like arrowroot or cornstarch) on the oily parts of your hair to absorb the oil and leave it looking clean. This is especially helpful if you’ll be styling hair (dirty hair holds better than clean hair but with our dry shampoo it won't look dirty). In fact, for an upcoming wedding I’ll be sporting hair that hasn’t been washed in three days (totally truthing right now), and for those who can go longer I'm totally jealous ;)

Key to Distributing Your Dry Shampoo
A regular salt shaker works great for dry shampoo. They're cheap and most everyone already has them in their kitchens, plus the filter allows us to easily control the outward flow. For any recipe that calls for more than one ingredient use equal parts of everything. I usually mix up 2 tbsp just because I know I will use it again.

For blondes ...

The Classic One and Only Baby Powder Dry shampoo
This is a trick that women have been using for ages, baby powder is probably the most common and well-known method for making your own dry shampoo. Great tool when you are in a hurry and if you have LIGHTER colored hair!
Baking Powder, Yes I said it, Baking Powder..
Obviously this is more drying so there is no need to mix it with any other ingredient. This is very very good for those with incredibly oily hair. Shake a little into the roots of your hair, and gently brush through.
Corn starch and Rice flour
You’ll want to brush your hair well before using this mixture, then work it into your roots and brush your hair again to remove it. I absolutely love the consistency of this recipe (I use it all the time)

For Brunettes...

Cocoa Powder and Black Coffee
This sounds crazy, I know, but it seriously works. The trick to creating this mixture is to finely grind the coffee down to a fine powder, and then just add the cocoa! Simple, sweet, and who doesn't love the smell of coffee???

FYI:

If you would like your dry shampoo to have a little more scent...
You can add dried flowers such as lavender or  rose petals or any other flower you prefer. You can also add essential oils, but remember not to add more than 6 drops because the point is to rid your hair from the oils.
Why not go for volume while your at it?...
Try using wheat flour or oat flour depending on your hair color.
