Men's Hair Trend

1940's Mens hair styles

I love everything about mens style from the 40's. Not only was their hair neatly kept, but men in the 1940's also knew how to dress...Ladies, it's not just our style going retro!

Saved by the Bouffant

3 Step Bouffant

I am loving the hairstyles lately and that old hollywood glamour! This retro inspired hairstyle is definitely one of my go-to styles and it takes 5 minutes! .....

3 Steps
1. Tease the top of you hair back to the crown of your head
2. Brush bangs to the side ( if you dont have bangs then give yourself a deep part to make it look as if you do have them )
3.  Twist hair up in the back and pin with 2 bobby pins  ( or more if needed )

Spring Trends

Hair Trend of 2013 - Deep side parts & Statement earrings

I absolutely love this new spring trend. The deep side part with the soft waves gives  more glamor to this vintage look...

A mix of edgy and feminine, this ornate ear cuff works well with either glamorous or rock ‘n’ roll outfits. And the best thing is most styles don’t even require a pierced ear!!!!!!!
Before you go and try these bold statement earrings just make sure your hair is either up or swept to one side. You don’t want your statement to go unnoticed! Here are some of my Favorite ear statements....

.....ps I found some really cute statement cuff at Forever21.........just sayin

Heathy tip to Heathy hair..

Healthy tip to Healthy hair

No matter where I go, when people find out that I am a hair stylist, I am always asked questions like...  What can I do to keep my hair from getting so dry? How can I get my hair to grow longer? Can you tell me how to get rid of frizz? Well ladies, I'm going to let you in on a little secret ingredient that truly performs hair miracles and best of all you can find it right in your kitchen. Coconut oil.

I stumbled across this not too terribly long ago; I just wish I had known about it when I was still in high school...a time when I was doing some serious damage to my hair. Nonetheless, it's proven to be one of my greatest arsenals against dryness, frizz and the like.

Studies have shown that coconut oil has the ability to penetrate the hair shaft and work its way through all layers of the hair strand. It helps reduce loss of protein, and aids in regaining your hair’s natural oil and moisture, all the while keeping hair healthy and shiny.

Coconut Oil as Hair Conditioner

For deep conditioning, coconut oil is best applied directly to your hair. At room temperature it will solidify but the second you put some in your hands it will begin to melt. Apply this to your hair right after shampooing. Put half a teaspoon of coconut oil in your palms and rub your hands together. Run your hands through your hair, concentrating on the tips. Try to avoid putting any oil on the roots of your hair or on your scalp, doing so will make your hair look greasy and oily. For deep conditioning, you may consider wrapping your head in a shower cap after you’ve applied the oil and leave it on for half an hour. After that, rinse your hair thoroughly with water. I'd also like to add that when my husband is away on business I will sleep with the coconut oil in my hair, with a shower cap over my hair of course, and a towel on top of my pillow (can't be too careful. Plus, when given the opportunity I will make a mess)
I buy LouAna Coconut Oil from Winn Dixie 31.5 ounces at a time, and it will last you forever. GOOD LUCK!!!!

A New Year ... already?

New Year's Eve
Dress, Design & Decor
Holy smokes, where in the world does time go? It's already a new year, and thank the Lord we all made it (sorry Mayans).

I have to say I have a new found respect for bloggers....this isn't easy. I absolutely love what I do, but sometimes at the end of the day not only am I too tired to blog, but I just don't seem to have enough time to put together a well thought post...lol it's exhausting but I totally love it and I love the chaos!!!   Soooooooo that brings us to 2013...What's your New Year's Resolution?

My aim is to keep doing what I love (hair styling and everything that it entails) and sharing it here on my blog, with also a little life mixed in. I'm very excited for what 2013 has to offer. I have tons of hair pictures, giveaways and tutorials to come and I can't wait.

wet n wild lip liners

Fall favorite beauty tip:

As 2012 rolls on we find that the bright and bold colors of Spring and Summer easily transfer into Fall with only slight adaptations. Though the shades are still bold, this season introduces darker, deeper and richer tones . I'm currently having a love affair with the deep merlots, dark berry reds and the warm chestnut colors. Though one of my favorite lipsticks still remains Lancome's Red Haute, it's price tag of $22.50 turns my once guilty pleasure into something of an expensive splurge (I'll save it for my next retail therapy session).

Justin likes to remind me of the money I spend on makeup (I normally reciprocate by comparing the cost of my makeup with the cost of his golf game...I win).  Needless to say, his comments started me thinking...could I cut the cost of my makeup spending without cutting quality?

The answer, OF COURSE! Ladies, the answer for savings lies in substitution. Swap that expensive tube for lip liner of the the same shade.  Not only does it last all day, it also comes at a whopping $0.99!!!!!!!!!! Simply line your lips first and then use the same pencil to fill in the rest. This method also keeps your color from smearing and running to the outsides of your lips, something even my favorite lipsticks used to do.

I've stocked myself with every lip liner my local drugstore sells! Ten new shades at half the price of ONE of my Lancome lipsticks. I'm no poker player, but I definitely hit the jackpot!

BUSY BUSY BUSY

Hello Lovelies,

I know, I know, it's been a little bit since my last post.  Things have been crazy busy and finding any spare time is nearly impossible. I'm working on getting my schedule back on track so I can do ALL the things that I love, which includes my blog and interacting with all of you!

However, I have been lucky enough to find the time to enjoy this lovely Fall weather and all the things that Autumn brings. Without a doubt this is my absolute favorite time of the year. I love spending more time outside with my husband and going to football games (even if they turn out to be a major disappointment...we won't talk about that FSU vs. NC State game) or hanging with the fam and going to fall festivals. I'm all about finding the joy in the small things of life and I hope that I inspire you to do the same. What's your favorite part about this season? Do you and your family have any wacky Fall traditions? I'd love to hear from you!

Happy Fall!
